WSU Cougar Pride Days 2003 Set for March 26-April 5

PULLMAN, Wash. — Planning is underway for Cougar Pride Days 2003, March 26-April 5, at Washington State University.

As with the successful initial event this past spring, university faculty, staff, student and area resident volunteers will help make the WSU campus more beautiful during Cougar Pride Days 2003. Flowers shrubs and trees will be planted, bark mulch spread, and litter will be picked up. In addition, the event will include celebrations of WSU’s history and employees.

Coordinating the event are WSU Department of Facilities Operations and the WSU Student Alumni Connection. Ev Davis, Facilities Operations director, heads a campus committee organizing event activities. The City of Pullman has a representative on the committee to help plan the city’s involvement in the event.

Cougar Pride Days kicks off at 11 a.m. March 26 on the west lawn of Bryan Hall. The closing ceremony – including award presentations — will begin at noon April 4 on Terrell Mall.

During the event’s 11 days, a series of special activities are set. On March 27, the annual WSU Women’s Recognition Luncheon is scheduled. On March 28, WSU’s 113th birthday, the Faculty Honors Convocation will be held and awards presented. On April 2, the President’s Employee Excellence Awards will be presented. And, on April 5, Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum will celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The Web site for Cougar Pride Days is www.wsu.edu/cougar-pride-days. Currently, the site recaps results of the first event. It will be updated with Cougar Pride Days 2003 information as soon as details are finalized by the committee.

Each building on campus will have a Cougar Pride Days captain and many university departments will have Cougar Pride Days coordinators to enlist support of faculty, staff and students in beautification projects. For more information, contact Davis at (509) 335-9024.
