Explore Truths, Myths About Bats at WSU Vancouver, Oct. 28

VANCOUVER, Wash. – WSU Vancouver faculty member Christine Portfors will present “Bats are Good Guys: Exploring Truths and Myths About Bats” Oct. 28 on the Washington State University Vancouver campus.

The 7 p.m. event, located in the Student Services Building’s lecture hall, is free and open to the public. Families with children are welcome.

Portfors, an assistant professor of biological sciences, will dispel the popular folklore surrounding bats and talk about their benefit in nature.

For more than six years, she has studied how the brains of bats process sound and the brain’s connection to how humans process speech. “I’m very interested in how bats live in their environment and what sensory systems they use to survive,” she said.

For more information, contact Portfors at (360) 546-9434. WSU Vancouver is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
