PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Young Concert Artists Series will begin its 2002 season with Russian cellist Alexandre
Bouzlov. Bouzlov, 18, will perform 7:30 p.m., Sept. 25 in the Kimbrough Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for the public, $7 for students and are available at all TicketsWest outlets or www.wsu.edu/beasley.
Bouzlov, a native of Moscow, Russia, began cello studies at the age of six. Twelve years later, he has a slew of eye-catching awards under his belt, including first place in both the 2001 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and the 2000 “New Names” Competition in Moscow. Bouzlov currently studies at the Moscow Conservatory with Natalya Gutman.
Three other young international artists are slated to perform later in the Young Concert Artists Series. Finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen will play Nov. 4; American violinist Nicolas Kendall will perform Jan. 16; and Alexander Fiterstein of Israel will play the clarinet on March 6.
