Barbara B. Petura Named Chair of CASE National Communication Commission

PULLMAN, Wash. — Barbara B. Petura of Washington State University has been named to a three-year term as chair of the national Communication Commission of CASE with a simultaneous appointment on the national CASE Board of Trustees. Her appointment follows a three-year term as a commission member.

CASE is the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. CASE members include professionals in public relations, media relations, publications, alumni relations and fund raising at universities, colleges and schools in the U.S., Canada and other countries.

Petura takes on the new volunteer role at the July commission meeting in Chicago, and she will attend a first trustees’ meeting in November in Washington, D.C. She also will moderate a panel discussion on Designing for the Web and for Print.

At WSU since 1985, Petura has been assistant vice president for University Relations since 1991.

Prior to coming to WSU, Petura led news and communication programs at the University of Idaho and the University of Oregon.
