Chess Expert Will Take on Challengers at Chess Extravaganza Jan. 27

PULLMAN, Wash. — Mark Anderson, executive director of Chess for America and a chess expert ranked in the top 10 percent of U.S. players, will offer free lessons and play a simultaneous match against all comers at 2 p.m., Jan. 27, in Washington State University’s Compton Union Building, Room 123.

He will offer hands-on group lessons at two levels, beginning and intermediate/advanced, followed by the simultaneous match at about 3:30 p.m.

Boards and pieces will be provided but those who attend are encouraged to bring their own equipment to the event.
