WSU Tri-Cities Candlelight March Honors Martin Luther King Jr.

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — The public is invited to join a candlelight march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Washington State University Tri-Cities.

Participants will gather at the Student Book Corporation, a building on the west end of campus, and proceed to the atrium of the campus’ main building. Candles will be provided.

The ceremony will include the reading of King’s “I Have A Dream” speech by the campus’ special guest, Debbie Wooten.

Wooten, a Chicago native and motivational speaker who now makes her home in the Pacific Northwest, says one of the high points of her life was meeting King. She says her message is a simple one, “See people for who they are on the inside.”

The Associated Students of WSU Tri-Cities is sponsoring the event. WSU Tri-Cities is located at 2710 University Drive in north Richland.
