PULLMAN, Wash. — Auditions for the Washington State University Theatre’s production of “A Raisin in the Sun,” will be held Oct. 9-11 from 3-5 p.m. and Oct. 12 from 7-8 p.m. in Daggy Hall, Room 257. Tryouts are open to the public.
The play is set in 1955 in Chicago’s south side and revolves around the dreams and conflicts of three generations of an African American family. The play is built on sacrifice, heartbreak, trust, love and a mother’s struggle to keep her family together in the face of poverty and prejudice.
The play calls for three adult women of color, four to six men of color, one to three white men and one African American pre-teen.
To be considered for the play persons must attend at least one open session and be available for callbacks on Oct. 12 from 8-10 p.m. Auditions will consist of small group readings from the script. The script must be read in advance and can be obtained Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4:30 p.m. in the theatre office in Daggy Hall, Room 320.
