WSU Tri-Cities Reports Enrollment at 1,083

TRI-CITIES, Wash — Fall semester enrollment at Washington State University Tri-Cities is slightly below last year’s level, at 1,083.

University officials say the small decrease — 30 students — is likely due to a combination of factors, including the Tri-Cities’ strong economy.

“When there’s nearly full employment and the local economy is strong, higher education enrollments tend to flatten out some, while public school numbers may go up, as new people move in to the area,” said Larry James, dean and campus executive officer at the Tri-Cities campus.

“Our fall enrollments are well within the range of projections,” the dean said. “Last year, we were above those projections by a little, this year, we’re right on what we’d projected for state funding.”

Washington State University’s total fall enrollment on all campuses — Pullman, Vancouver, Spokane and the Tri-Cities — is 21,794.
