WSU Regents to Meet in Pullman

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Board of Regents is expected to approve the 2001-02 budget allocations and the 2002 supplementary budget request at its 9:30 a.m., meeting Friday, Aug. 31, at the Lewis Alumni Centre.

The Regents will determine whether to take the final steps toward acquiring the property at 1020 NE Colorado St., formerly a Burger King restaurant. If approved, the university plans to relocate WSU Parking and Transportation Services from the Public Safety Building.

The Regents also will vote on a proposal to extend the final two years of the Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, Tree Fruit option, to the WSU Learning Center in Wenatchee in fall 2001. The extension would allow students participating in the program at Wenatchee Valley College who cannot relocate to Pullman to continue the existing curriculum.

In a separate item, Regents will consider whether to approve the Doctor of Education degree with a specialization in educational administration for students in WSU branch campuses at Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver. The degree prepares students for school superintendent and other leadership positions in the K-12 system.

The Regents will address a host of other items including revisions to the Faculty Manual and awarding construction contracts for the first phase of the indoor practice facility and the redevelopment of Library Road.
