PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University will offer various free activities with faculty members as part of its Nooners on the Lawn series this summer on the Glenn Terrell Mall.
John Irby of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication will discuss the oxymoron of media ethics June 13 on the upper plaza adjacent to the mall. He will propose several ethical situations and ask people what they would do.
Sled dog enthusiast Glenn Cantor of the veterinary microbiology and pathology department will present a slide show June 19 in the Compton Union Building, Room 127-5. He will share anecdotes about his experiences in long-distance sled dog races in Alaska. The next day, Margaret Black of the pharmaceutical sciences department will bring her team of dogs for a demonstration on the mall. She also will discuss equipment and training techniques.
Ken Kardong of the School of Biological Sciences will present a snake exhibition June 27. The focus shifts to raptors July 5. Erik Stauber, who directs the raptor rehabilitation program in the department of veterinary clinical sciences, and his students will display various birds of prey.
Yogendra Gupta, director of the WSU Institute for Shock Physics, will conduct an interactive talk about shock wave research on the upper plaza July 18. He will explain challenges and what people can learn from research in the field.
