WSU Ranked Among Nation’s Top 25 in Survey of Best Colleges for Asian Americans

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University is one of the nation’s 25 “Best Colleges for Asian Americans,” according to a survey by aMedia, a producer and distributor of media for the Asian American market.

In the survey, which appears in the August/September issue of aMagazine: Inside Asian America, and its Web site, www.aonline.com, WSU is ranked 22nd.

The University of Hawaii is No. 1 on the list. WSU is the only university from the state of Washington or the Pacific Northwest on the list. Others rated include UCLA and Stanford, 3rd and 12th respectively. At 21st is the University of Colorado at Boulder and Michigan State University is 23rd.

This is first time WSU has been rated in the top 25 by the aMedia survey, says Steve Nakata, director of the WSU Office of Multicultural Student Services.

“We’re please by this recognition. It’s a point of pride,” he says. “WSU continues its diligent efforts to recruit and retain talented students of color. This ranking, plus recent recognition by The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine, shows the breadth of our commitment. We are also proud of our efforts involving African American and Native American students.”
