Ragtime Music Great to Perform at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. — Internationally renowned ragtime performer Scott Kirby
will perform in a free concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Bryan Hall
Auditorium on the Washington State University campus.

Kirby will visit WSU as a guest for the university’s Summer Keyboard
Explorations Camp set for next week. He will present a lecture/performance for
the camp as well as the solo piano recital open to the public.

“Kirby is considered one of the leading performers of ragtime music in the
world today,” said Gerald Berthiaume, director of the WSU keyboard camp.

Kirby graduated from Ohio State University and has debuted at ragtime
festivals in the United States, Belgium, France, Norway and Hungary. He also
has appeared on “Good Morning America.” Kirby specializes in American
music styles including classic ragtime, new ragtime, Creole music and Terra
Verde.
