Teachers Needed for Japan

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University College of Education
is seeking two experienced teachers to teach English as a second language at
the Nishinomiya School District in Japan for a 12-month period, beginning
Aug. 1, 2000. Review of applications will begin March 20. Positions will remain
open until filled.

The teachers will teach at the junior high school level and serve as consultants
in English to Japanese teachers. A master’s degree is preferred and teaching
experience is required. Cultural sensitivity and a willingness to contribute to
the ongoing partnership between the WSU College of Education and the
Nishinomiya Board of Education is expected.

The annual tax-free salary, offered in Japanese yen for each position, is
equivalent to approximately $38,000-$45,000. In addition, a furnished apartment
and round-trip transportation to Japan will be provided.
