Chan, Kostova to Perform in Nov. 11 Recital

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University music faculty member and pianist Susan Chan and noted Bulgarian violinist Denitza Kostova will perform during a Nov. 11 recital at Pullman Presbyterian Church.

The 8 p.m. program will include pieces by Suk, Mozart, Franck and Sarasate-Zimbalist.

Chan has performed on four continents as a soloist and chamber musician. She earned her doctoral degree from Indiana University with post-graduate work at Yale University and Trinity College of Music in London.

Kostova has won numerous competitions in the United States and Bulgaria. She holds contracts with symphony orchestras in Erie, Penn., and Canton and Youngstown, Ohio. She also is principal of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra. Kostova is working on her master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

The concert is sponsored by WSU’s student chapter of Music Teachers National Association. At the recital, a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit the church’s musician scholarship fund.
