A Record Number Expected for Future Cougar Day

PULLMAN Wash. — A record 2,100 high school students and their families are expected on
the Washington State University campus in Pullman for Future Cougar Day Saturday, Sept. 25.
Participants will gather for activities beginning at 9 a.m. on the Grimes Way Playfield between the
Lewis Alumni Centre and the Lighty Student Services Building.
The festival is an opportunity for future collegians and their families to get a first glance at
life on a university campus. A $10 fee includes a football game ticket, a department fair featuring
70 academic areas and student organizations, guided walking tours around campus and through
residence halls, and a barbecue lunch.
“We are extremely excited about the event this year,” says Arlene Parkay, WSU visitor
program coordinator. “It is encouraging to see people coming out in record numbers to preview
WSU.”
Saturday is also Band Day. Nearly 900 high school band students will team up with the
Cougar Marching Band for a performance at halftime during the WSU-Arizona football game.
