Dioxin Exposure Topic of WSU Public Lecture Oct. 6

PULLMAN, Wash. — The health effects associated with exposure to dioxins will be
discussed by an international expert on the topic during a public lecture set for 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at
Washington State University.
Dr. Linda Birnbaum, director of the National Health and Environmental Effects Research
Laboratory’s Experimental Toxicology Division, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will
discuss environmental sources, human exposure, health effects and risk assessment for the
general public.
The lecture, “Risk Characterization of Dioxins,” will be held at Todd Hall Auditorium.
On Oct. 8, Dr. Birnbaum will give a 3:10 p.m. seminar on “Developmental Effects of Dioxins”
in Wegner Hall, Room G-1.
