Petura Elected to CASE Communication Commission

PULLMAN, Wash. — Barbara Petura, assistant vice president for university relations at
Washington State University, has been elected to a three-year term on the communication
commission of the nation’s leading higher education public relations organization.
She attends the first meeting of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education
Communication Commission July 15-17 in Boston.
Petura, who has led WSU’s media relations and public relations programs since 1985, served
as chair of CASE District VIII from 1984-1986. At that time, she also was a member of the CASE
national board of directors representing the district.
District VIII includes the public and private universities and colleges and the private
elementary and secondary schools in the northwest United States and western Canada. CASE
members include professionals in public relations, media relations, publications, alumni relations
and fund raising.
Prior to coming to WSU, Petura led news and communication programs at the University of
Idaho and the University of Oregon.
