WSU Presents Tour of Mayan Sites

PULLMAN, Wash. — The archaeology of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula will be featured
during a 14-day study tour in October sponsored by Washington State University. This will be
the fifth study tour of the region offered through WSU’s Conferences and Institutes.
The study tour will include lectures on pre-Columbian cultures and the region’s
environment. The group will learn about Mayan culture by visiting and studying the
archaeological sites of Edzna, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Kabah, Sayil, Tulum and Coba.
Participants will spend three nights in the colonial city of Merida; two nights in the walled
city of Campeche; two nights at a rancho near Uxmal; one night at Chichen Itza; and four nights
at Akumal, a Caribbean resort 65 miles south of Cancun.
Tour costs range from $2,175-$2,400 per person. The package is designed for individuals 25
and older, organizers say.
