PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University flute instructor Ann Marie Yasinitsky will perform in concert Oct. 1 on the WSU campus. The 8 p.m. program, set for Bryan Hall Auditorium, is open to the public without charge.
Ann Yasinitsky, flutist with WSU’s Solstice Wind Quintet and principal flutist with the Washington Idaho Symphony, will perform music by the 19th century French composers Franck and Faure and the 20th century Russian composer Prokofiev.
The program also will include a piece written for the performer by her husband, Greg Yasinitsky, also a WSU music faculty member.
Performing with the flutist will be WSU faculty members Gerald Berthiaume and Susan Chan. Ann Yasinitsky and Berthiaume have performed and recorded numerous times together and are featured most recently on the compact disc, “Nancy Van de Vate: Chamber Music Volume V,” released by the Vienna Modern Masters label. She and Chan are featured on Yasinitsky’s CD, “Intuition.”
Ann Yasinitsky is recipient of numerous awards and grants, including a “Special Commendation” award in the Vienna Modern Masters Performers International Recording Competition and a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. She has performed throughout the Northwest and Canada as a soloist, orchestra member and chamber musician with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including Gunther Schuller’s New England Ragtime Ensemble and the Spokane Symphony.
