WSU Names Guzman Interim Registrar

PULLMAN, Wash. — David A. Guzman has been appointed interim registrar at Washington State University, effective Oct. 5.
Guzman succeeds Monty Nielsen, who has accepted a similar position at the University of Wisconsin.
Guzman came to WSU as director of Veterans Affairs in 1988 from New Mexico State University. He was appointed associate registrar in 1996.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as senior enlisted adviser and command sergeant major, Pacific Air Forces, Hawaii, in 1986.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Phoenix and a master’s degree in counseling and human resources from the University of Idaho. He has done additional graduate work at WSU in education administration and student services.
Making the announcement, K. J. “Gus” Kravas, vice provost for Student Affairs, said a search committee would be appointed within the next few weeks.
Kravas has appointed Richard Backes interim associate registrar.
