PULLMAN, Wash. — Ken Casavant, interim vice provost for academic affairs, has agreed to serve also as Washington State University’s vice provost for research.
Wes Leid, who had been in the temporary research leadership position since October, has resigned for reasons of health and has returned to his faculty responsibilities in the Department of Animal Sciences.
Provost Gretchen M. Bataille said Casavant has been involved in a number of research issues and can handle the tasks more easily than someone who had to start fresh at this point in the year.
Bataille said the search processes to fill both positions permanently are on schedule.
Casavant, a professor of agricultural economics, accepted the interim academic affairs post in January.
