T.L. Purce to Chair WSU VP Business Search

PULLMAN, Wash. — The search for a new vice president for business affairs at Washington State University is formally underway with the appointment of a search committee, chaired by T.L. Purce, vice president for Extended University Affairs.
Vice President Sallie Giffen announced her retirement in December and leaves in May after six years at WSU. She is WSU’s chief financial officer and serves as treasurer of the Board of Regents. Other areas of administrative responsibility assigned to the vice president of business affairs include Public Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Management, Housing and Dining Services, Internal Audit and Records Management, and Benefits Services and Risk Management.
Plans call for review of applications and nominations beginning in April and recommendations of finalists to the president by June, with the new vice president on board by the start of fall semester in August.
Other search committee members are Greg Royer, Budget and Planning; Ernie Renfro, Business Affairs and Controller; Bill Gray, WSU Spokane; Ernestine Madison, Human Relations and Resources; Bruce Thompson, Facilities Development; Susan Gill, Department of Accounting; Bill Mincks, School of Architecture; Mary Guenther, Department of Physics; Gerald Hord, Facilities Operations; Clifford Sell, graduate student; and David Iyall, undergraduate student.
