PULLMAN, Wash.–More than 140 educators have preregistered for the day-long regional conference of the Washington Association for the Education of Speakers of Other Languages on Saturday, Oct. 4, on the Washington State University campus.
Featured speaker will be Robert Kaplan, a specialist in cross-cultural writing.
The conference, “Taking it to the Classroom,” will include workshops on teaching study skills, as well as speaking and writing to English-as-a-Second Language students.
Kaplan is a former professor at the University of Southern California and is internationally recognized for his work in applied linguistics, said conference co-coordinator Diane Horton. Kaplan will lecture on language planning and policy-making in the United States.
