PULLMAN, Wash.–Two free park-and-ride lots have been designated by Washington State University Parking Services to encourage use of the Pullman Transit System that is free to university students and employees.
John Shaheen, assistant director of public safety for transportation and administration, says signs identifying the parking areas south of the Valley Road playfield and at the east end of the Chief Joseph Village parking lot have been posted.
Both areas are underutilized during the day for parking and are conveniently located to the transit system’s Express and A-Route stops. There are 75-100 parking spaces available along the south fence of the Valley Road playfield and 30-40 at the Chief Joseph lot. Permits for those areas are not required.
“These locations are ideal for testing the market for transit park-and-ride concepts,” Shaheen says. “If these sites prove successful, we will look for additional lots in other locations in the community.”
