New Video Exhibition at the Art Museum!

Video from the True Collection May 8 – June 2, 2018 Bruce/Floyd Gallery, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU.

In a two-part presentation, the museum will consecutively highlight six room-sized video projections from six international artists. Each video work will be presented for approximately one month.

This month’s projection will be Government Cut Freestyle, 1998 by Dara Friedman. It’s a  DVD projection, looping 9 minutes 20 seconds, in silent format.

From a pier on the southern tip of Miami Beach, an endless stream of civilians jump into the Government Cut, a shipping channel connecting the Atlantic to Biscayne Bay. Their graceful descents, slowed down, repeat endlessly and variously, like jets of water from a fountain.
