PULLMAN – For the first time in years, the WSU Children’s Center does not have a waiting list of parents seeking childcare for spring semester.
The Children’s Center has 31 openings for spring semester: eight for infants, 10 for toddlers, seven for preschool, and six for kindergarten/school-age kids.
In the past it was common for parents to wait up to two years before a spot opened in the center. Director Mary Ellen Radziemski said the change is a result of the recent addition of two classrooms to the facility. Construction on the classrooms was completed in the fall.
“We are very pleased that our new classrooms are allowing us to accommodate more children,” she said. “A lot of thanks goes to President Elson S. Floyd for recognizing the need in our community and supporting this project.”
Parents interested in reserving a spot for spring semester can download the enrollment application at www.childrenscenter.wsu.edu or stop by the center on Olympia Avenue.
Parents also are welcome to tour the facility during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The best times for tours are 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-5:30 p.m.
Enrollment questions can be directed to Kim Akin at 335-8847 or kakin@wsu.edu.
