Wine 101 Consumer Seminar is Sept. 17 at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. — Learn the basics of wine tasting on Sept. 17 from Thomas Henick-Kling, director of Washington State University’s Viticulture and Enology program.
 
“Wine 101” is the first in the 2009-2010 Community Wine Education Series offered by WSU Tri-Cities. This introduction to wine tasting is highly recommended for beginners but even those with experience will learn something new.
 
Upcoming seminars this fall include:
– Oct. 29 — “Comparing Merlots from Different AVAs”
– Nov. 5 — “Sparkling Wines: For Special Occasions and for Everyday Enjoyment”
– Nov. 19 — “Pairing Food and Wine for Holiday Gatherings”

Each seminar costs $35 and is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday in the Consolidated Center at WSU Tri-Cities, 2770 University Drive, Richland.
 
Seminars are led by Henick-Kling, an internationally recognized researcher with a focus on malolactic fermentation, or by Andy Perdue, editor of Wine Press Northwest magazine.
