Updated ITS site makes it easier to get help

PULLMAN – The Information Technology Services home page, https://infotech.wsu.edu, which provides online resources and information for WSU faculty, staff and students, has been redesigned and updated.
Ken Clark, ITS webmaster, said the old home page mainly consisted of a list of links and dynamic content in the form of system status and maintenance notices. The page now contains a Flash movie with five expandable panels of links that reflect the different categories of content. These categories are:
• System Status and Maintenance
• News and Projects
• Help Desk
• IT Contact Information
• IT Services
An even greater change, Clark said, is that the site was restructured to fit content under those categories – which are based on the specific services ITS offers.
Another aspect of the site, Clark said, is implementation of an ITS-specific search tool.
“If we add new content that we want folks to find quickly, it only takes about five minutes for pages to appear in search results, much quicker than waiting for a commercial web crawler to discover the page,” Clark said.
For questions or help with the website, contact the ITS Help Desk at 335-HELP (4357) or helpdesk@wsu.edu.
