2009 Lentil Festival offers wide variety

 
 
PULLMAN – Welcoming back students to fall semester 2009 is the annual National Lentil Festival, Aug. 21-23 in Pullman. This year’s festival includes:
 

Friday, Aug. 21
  • 5-11 p.m. Friday Night Street Fair, featuring the World’s Largest Bowl of free lentil chili, live music, children’s activities, vendors, and a beer garden in downtown Pullman.

Saturday, Aug. 22
  • 8 a.m. Tase T. Lentil 5k Fun Run/Walk
  • 9 a.m. Tour de Lentil 100k Bike Ride

  • 8 a.m. Lentil Pancake Breakfast, hosted by the Lion’s Club in Cougar Plaza, downtown Pullman

  • 11 a.m. Grand Parade

  • 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Lentil Festival Marketplace in Reaney Park

  • 11 a.m. -5 p.m. Lentil Lane Food Court with various lentil dishes such as chicken lentil burritos, lentil wraps, lentil egg rolls, and more

  • 10 a.m.  3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, boys and girls, grades 3-8

  • 2 p.m. Boards & Blades Competition, Pullman Skate Park on Spring Street.  Practice at 1:30 p.m.

  • 2 p.m. Legendary Lentil Cook-Off, the first 400 people in line will judge the top six recipes submitted for the Legendary Lentil Cook-Off.

  • 12-5 p.m. Microbrewery Tasting Tent

  • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Live music on the main stage in Reaney Park starting

  • 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Lentil Land Children’s Area.  Everything from arts and crafts to cotton candy and face painting

  • 12 p.m. Kids’ Area Stage. Lively entertainment for the kids.

  • 1 p.m. Little Lentil King & Queen coronation, Main Stage in Reaney Park

  • 10 a.m. – 5 pm.. Farm Exhibit Tent. Historic farming photos and equipment, country crafts, models trains and a slide show on the history of lentil farming and historic downtown Pullman

Sunday, Aug. 23
 
  • 8 a.m. Inaugural Lentil Golf Tournament, Palouse Ridge Golf Club
