PULLMAN – WSU’s women’s rugby club will be part of a two-hour highlight TV show about the recent national championships that will air May 12 on ESPNU.
WSU lost the semi-final match at the USA Rugby National Championships against the defending (and eventual) national champions from Shippensburg University 33-7.
Club member Alexis Bonny, who plays in the flyhalf position, was invited to try out for the All-Star Collegiate All-American team and will compete for a spot on the team later this month.
Team coaches Leah Hammon and Erin MacDonald were interviewed by ESPNU for the May 12 program.
The women’s rugby team, re-established as a club sport three years ago, went 9-0 this season and was ranked fourth of 16 teams going into the national competition.
