Loss of students and revenue, repercussions on other programs, lack of faculty input and cultural impact were among the concerns expressed in the Faculty Senate Thursday as the group discussed its preliminary review of program cuts resulting from WSU budget reductions for the 2009-11 biennium.
A power-point presentation outlined the provost’s rationales and preliminary senate responses for program cuts in community and rural sociology, German, sport management and theater and dance. The senate responses resulted from review by three Faculty Senate committees.
Senators are seeking additional feedback from faculty, which will be presented at a Faculty Senate meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12. After incorporating this information, the senate plans to provide its completed review to the provost on Thursday, May 14.
Details can be found in the power-point presentation linked from the Faculty Senate website.
