Take a minute to question, visit with presenters

WSU has approved the use of two hours of work time for all university employees to attend the Academic Showcase 9 a.m.-noon Friday, March 27, in Bohler gym.

Employees are asked to schedule attendance with their supervisors so everyone may attend without disrupting university operations.

If faculty members teach during that time, they are welcome to encourage their students to attend the event in lieu of class. Professors can make arrangements to have students sign in at the registration desk by contacting Tena Old at skeen@wsu.edu by March 26.

Faculty members serving on the Showcase steering committee have suggested that students who attend might be asked to write and hand in a short paper on a particular poster that is applicable to their class.

“The Academic Showcase provides time for our university community to gain a better understanding of the work that is being conducted across our campuses,” said Provost Warwick Bayly. He encouraged those attending to spend time reading posters and talking with poster presenters, who have devoted much time and effort to their presentations.

Abstracts for the Academic Showcase displays, as well as other information, can be found on the Showcase website, https://showcase.wsu.edu.

Showcase is WSU’s annual celebration of the achievements of individuals engaged in the advancement of scholarship, research and the arts. The day’s events include the Academic Showcase poster session, the Distinguished Faculty Address and the Celebrating Excellence recognition banquet.
