SPOKANE Janet Beary, a clinical assistant professor in the Program in Health Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at WSU Spokane, is the new president-elect of the Washington State Dietetic Association.
Her one-year term as president is set to begin with the spring meeting in 2010, and will be followed in 2011 with a one-year term as past president.
Beary has been a professor at WSU since January 2000. She has a Ph.D. from Oregon State University in public health. She is a registered dietitian and a certified health education specialist. She also is director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at WSU Spokane.
The WSDA has almost 1,600 members in the state. Their areas of expertise include clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, food service management, sales, education, consulting, culinary skills and others. The WSDA is an affiliate of the American Dietetic Association, which has nearly 65,000 members and is the largest organization of food and nutrition professionals in the U.S.
