Upgrade addresses search, navigation capabilities

WSU’s online training and development system, hosted by Human Resource Services (HRS), is getting an interface upgrade. Online training will be down all day Wednesday, Sept. 30, in order to implement the upgrade. The new system will launch Oct. 1.

The new interface will make online learning easier for WSU employees. HRS will hold demonstrations of the system and its features and will take requests for private departmental demonstrations. To request a departmental demonstration, contact  hrstraining@wsu.edu or 335-4521.

With the upgrade, the online learning website will sport a new look and improved navigation that will make finding and participating in training easier and more streamlined. Shortcuts in the left-side menu will feature drop-down menus, and learners will have the ability to view details on searches without navigating away from the results page.

Courses as well as online books, job aids, test prep exams and other learning assets will be viewed within the same window, along with progress and completion goals for each enrollment.

Other key features of the upgrade include expanded searching capabilities within learning content, and a reorganization of the content catalog into a tree-based folder structure. This will improve the ability of users to find the exact content they are looking for and also to find related content that is relevant to their topic.

Details on improvements to specific elements within the online learning system can be found on the HRS website, https://www.hrs.wsu.edu/HR%20Essentials.
