WSU Launches Support Group for Veteran Families

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Psychology Clinic at Washington State University, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Program and the Spokane VA Medical Center, will be offering a free weekly Veteran Families Support Group beginning Sept. 16 from 5:30–7 p.m. in Johnson Tower, room 365.

Spouses, partners and parents of veterans and active military members will meet for 10 sessions to share ideas and information about transitioning from military to civilian or college life, learn more about identifying and understanding changes in their deployed or returning veteran, and build a local support network.

The support group will be facilitated by clinic director Jan Kusch and Mikel Stevenson, licensed clinical social worker at the Spokane VA Medical Center Veteran Trauma Recovery Program.

Pre-registration for the Veteran Families Support Group is required. For more information or to sign up contact the WSU Psychology Clinic at 509-335-3587.
