Telephone system service outage rescheduled

PULLMAN — A WSU Pullman telephone system upgrade and service outage, previously set for July 18-19, has been rescheduled for Aug. 1-2.

During the rescheduled outage there will be no land-line telephone service from 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 through 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2.

Information Technology Services will be replacing and upgrading core components to the telephone switch which are obsolete.

During this time, no land-line phone service will be available on the WSU Pullman campus.
All emergency phones, public service phones or voice-based alarm circuits which are based on analog service from the telephone switch will also be unavailable.

Phone users at the urban campus locations (Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver) will still have the ability to dial on-campus, local area numbers, and long-distance numbers. However, urban campus access to university voicemail and 5-digit dialing will be unavailable.

For safety and emergency purposes, ITS advises anyone who will be on the Pullman campus during this planned telephone service outage to carry a cell phone. All phone services should be fully restored by 4 p.m. on Aug. 2.

For questions or concerns regarding this planned telephone system upgrade please contact Les Grammer, WSU information systems manager, at 509-335-0442, or the IT Network & Computing Operations Center @ 335-4949 or email operator@wsu.edu.
