PULLMAN, Wash. The Gamma-Mu chapter of Kappa Sigma at Washington State University will celebrate its centennial Saturday, March 7. This year marks the 100th year that Kappa Sigma has been on the campus of WSU.
Founded on March 6, 1909, Kappa Sigma has been a longstanding member in the Greek Community at WSU. It has produced such notable alumni as Edward R. Murrow, Secretary of State Sam Reed, KOMO TV anchor Eric Johnson, former Gov. Mike Lowery, and former Superior Court Judge Wally Friel, among others. The fraternity has undergone many changes through the years, yet has remained a staple in the Greek community, producing some of WSU’s finest men.
To celebrate the centennial, members and alumni will be gathering in Pullman at events throughout the weekend. These include a brunch and meet and greet at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the CUB Junior Ballroom and a dinner and presentation at Banyan’s on Palouse Ridge. The members will also be conducting house tours and having an open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. The event concludes Sunday with a golf tournament at Palouse Ridge.
The Kappa Sigma Centennial event kicks off a year of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Greek Community at WSU. Throughout the year, the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life will be holding events to commemorate this anniversary. The members of Kappa Sigma are excited to host the centennial event and are looking forward to many more successful years.
