The focus of the conference is on developing leadership skills. In addition, WSU will offer the students two main events on June 24: a welcome ceremony and an ice-cream social.
The Student Welcome/Opening Ceremony will take place from 2:30-3:15 p.m. in the Alumni Center Great Hall. WSU faculty and staff will introduce themselves and their programs to the participating students.
The ice cream social takes place at 9 p.m. in the Alumni Center Courtyard.Current WSU Hispanic students will visit with the NHI students.
“The NHI program is a wonderful way of helping today’s youth understand what it takes to become tomorrow’s leaders and putting them on the path to success.” James Roche, associate vice president of enrollment management, said.
“For WSU this is a terrific opportunity to bring students from throughout Washington and the Western United States to the Pullman campus. In doing so, we get to interact with some of tomorrow’s brightest students and they get to experience first-hand the excellence of a major research university,” Roche said.
