Auditions for The Vagina Monologues

PULLMAN – Women from the WSU campus and the surrounding community can participate in auditions for the 2009 benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues” from 5-7 p.m., Nov. 5 and 6 in Wilson 13.

V-DAY WSU, a WSU registered student organization, is holding auditions for  benefit production of the play, “The Vagina Monologues”. The group, which is part of a larger, national organization called VDAY, is part of a college campaign to raise money for local and national groups who work to stop violence against women and girls. In its seventh year of producing the play, V-DAY WSU has been able to raise nearly $40,000 for national and local organizations.

Director and four-time participant Brenna Fullner said all those who identify themselves as women should audition.

“It is a fun experience,” Fullner said. “You get the opportunity to meet women with differing experiences, even on topics that the monologues surround. It is exciting to watch the bonds being created between the actresses.”

Along with auditions, the production team meets weekly to plan and prepare for the big show. “V-DAY WSU is a good way to get involved on campus and meet new people, as well as an amazing way to help our community,” V-DAY graduate assistant Nichole Olson said. “This is a club that welcomes all people and truly makes a difference.”

V-DAY WSU meetings are held at 3 p.m. every Monday in Compton Union Building (CUB) 310 and students are welcome to join in at any point in the year.
