WSU President Joins Governor in Encouraging ‘Crimson and Gray Day’ Observation

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd today joined with Governor Christine Gregoire in encouraging all university supporters statewide to show their colors tomorrow in observance of her designation of the day as “Crimson and Gray Day.”

“I am delighted that Governor Gregoire has declared Saturday to be Crimson and Gray Day across the State of Washington,” Floyd said. “That is Foundation Day for WSU, when our alumni and donors are recognized for their generous support of our university.  It is a great day to wear Crimson and Gray to show support for Washington State University.”

Saturday also marks the Cougars’ PAC-10 conference home football matchup against the USC Trojans at 12:30 p.m. at Martin Stadium on the Pullman campus.

In issuing her proclamation yesterday, Gregoire commended WSU for the university’s “rich history” and “superb scholarship,” specifically referring to the university’s top-ranked programs in biosciences, veterinary medicine, communication and business.
She also complimented the university’s alumni and the WSU Foundation, which she indicated has raised more than $832 billion in private gifts and grants since its creation in 1979.
