Show Up, Cash In at College Goal Sunday in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, Wash. – College Goal Sunday Washington, a free program to help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, takes place 2 p.m., Jan. 27 at Washington State University Vancouver in the Firstenburg Student Commons.

The FAFSA is the single-most important form for financial aid, required to apply for financial assistance from almost any institution of higher education. Whether choosing a four-year college, community college, vocational or technical school, College Goal Sunday Washington can help students get money.

“In one day, you’ll learn how to get money for college,” said Alyson Galloway, WSU Vancouver assistant director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. “Most students – 63% – rely on financial aid to make attending college a reality. However, the paperwork can be confusing, so we’re pulling everything together in one place to help.”

Students and parents can talk to representatives from WSU Vancouver, WSU Pullman, Clark College and Lower Columbia College – and greet the college mascots!

Val Ogden, former state representative, will attend and speak, encouraging students and their families to seek higher education.

Families should bring their most recent tax return, and if they have one, their FAFSA PIN, said Galloway, though the PIN is not required to attend. See https://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/ss/collegegoalsunday for details and full list of information to bring.

Everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration for the event is required. Weekend parking at WSU Vancouver is free.

WSU financial aid volunteers will also attend the Tri-Cities and Pullman events. For more details about College Goal Sunday Washington and locations, visit www.collegegoalsundaywa.org or call 888-758-2253.
