The event is free and open to the public. The fare is designed to educate and involve the campus and surrounding community in exploring healthy lifestyle choices and features a broad spectrum of local vendors who represent recreational activities, healthy living, nutrition, health care organizations, fitness and more.
During the fare participants will have the opportunity to explore a variety of healthy activities including health screenings. The ExMet students will be offering the following health screenings free of charge: blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, body composition/body fat analysis, and the Rockport One Mile Fitness Test. The ExMet Club will provide free pedometers for those who choose to be Rockport participants.
In a brown bag discussion entitled “Living Green,” WSU Spokane County Extension Director Ed Adams will facilitate a discussion on the complexities of modern food production and the impact of our everyday food choices on our health and the environment. The discussion is free and open to the public and will take place in the Academic Center room 205, beginning at noon.
In conjunction with the Healthy Fare, the students are also hosting a food drive to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank. Those stopping by to enjoy the fare are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support the cause.
