Middle school and high school teachers and undergraduate education majors participating in the Summer at WSU Engineering Experience for Teachers (SWEET) program will be teaching students Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. at various classrooms in Sloan Hall on the Washington State University Pullman campus. The teachers work with WSU research engineers through a six-week intensive course to develop teaching modules that they can use in their classrooms and can share with other teachers. Tuesday, they will be teaching their newly developed courses to high school and middle school students brought in for the occasion.
The goal of the program, which is funded by the National Science Foundation, is to familiarize more teachers with engineering, and help them carry those experiences back into their classrooms, where they can educate and inspire the next generation of engineers.
