RICHLAND, Wash. New students will get a dose of Cougar Spirit during the first-ever Inauguration at Washington State University Tri-Cities on Thursday, Aug. 16.
About 200 freshmen and transfer students, joined by about 250 guests, have RSPV’d for Inauguration. Check-in starts at 1:30 p.m. in the West Building Atrium on campus at
The event starts at 2 p.m. on the West Building Patio with a welcome ceremony that includes “pinning” the new students and teaching students the WSU Fight Song.
Breakout sessions run from 2:30 to 4 p.m.:
The freshmen breakout sessions will be in the Consolidated Information Center Room 120, where they will learn about financial aid, the academic theme for 2007-08, meet faculty, and receive WSU Tri-Cities T-shirts from Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein.
Transfer students sessions include overviews of career services, campus safety, and student services provided on campus.
Parents and guests are invited to a special panel session titled “As a parent of a new college student, I wish I had known…” This will be held in the Consolidated Information Center Room 216.
Inauguration ends with a welcome barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. on the West Building Patio. During the barbecue, students can find out about clubs and upcoming activities, and get their photo taken with WSU’s mascot, Butch T. Cougar.
