“Mystery of the Pharaoh’s Treasure” Brings Egypt to WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash. — Campers will learn the secrets of the sands, pyramids and the Nile during the “Mystery of the Pharaoh’s Treasure” summer science camp this week at Washington State University Tri-Cities.

About 90 children are attending the Egyptian-themed science camp July 23-27 on the WSU Tri-Cities campus in the Consolidated Information Center (CIC) at 2770 University Drive, Richland.

The week of hands-on, educational activities culminates in the “Big Event” at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27. The campers become Egyptian archaeologists to dig out a buried mummy and examine discovered gold. Contact LoAnn Ayers at 727-8774 to confirm specific daily activities.

This is the third of four summer science camps held on the WSU Tri-Cities campus for kids who will be entering kindergarten through fifth grade in fall 2007. The weeklong sessions use hands-on activities and curriculum from Discovery Quest (www.scienceadventures.com).

Next week is the final summer science camp: Gadgets, Gizmo and Goop.
