New Time for Friday’s Science Camp Rocket Launch

RICHLAND, Wash. — This Friday’s summer science camp rocket launch has been moved to an earlier time — 8:30 a.m. — because of the high heat weather advisory.
 
The outdoor launch of 90 rockets originally was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 13. The location for the 8:30 a.m. launch remains the Hanford High School playfield along Sprout Street, adjacent to the Washington State University Tri-Cities campus, 2710 University Drive, Richland.

The Comet Rockets were built by children attending the “Space and Rocketry” summer science camp at WSU Tri-Cities. The rocket launch is the “big event” after a week of hands-on activities related to outer space. Additional indoor activities are planned for Friday morning and early afternoon in the WSU Tri-Cities Consolidated Information Center. This is the first of four summer science camps held on the WSU Tri-Cities campus for kids who will be entering kindergarten through fifth grade in Fall 2007. The weeklong sessions use hands-on activities and curriculum from Discovery Quest (www.scienceadventures.com).
