International Algorithmic Experts Gather to Discuss Economic Applications

VANCOUVER, Wash. – More than 35 top computer scientists and mathematicians from 15 different countries are gathered this week at Washington State University Vancouver for a conference on the application of computer science to solve economic problems.

The third International Conference on Algorithmic Aspects in Information and Management runs June 6 to 8, with presenters from around the world addressing topics such as, “Optimal Order Allocation with Discount Pricing,” and “Minimum Spanning Tree with Neighborhoods.”

“While the areas of operations research and management science are full of algorithmic challenges, the proliferation of information has called for the design of smart algorithms and data structures for their management,” said Wenzhan Song, WSU Vancouver assistant professor of computer science and host for this year’s AAIM conference.

Past conferences have been held in Xi’An and HongKong, China. This is the first one to be held in the United States.
