WSU’s portal, myWSU, has been updated to make it easier to find important official notices about matters such as financial aid award notifications, payment due notices, class notices and more.
The portal’s Communications/Notices page now has a listing called Official Notices at the top of the page where students, faculty and staff will find their personal, official notices. This listing delivers only notices targeted to individuals and concerns official WSU business.
“Students told us they sometimes had trouble finding their important, personal notices among the other general announcements that they received in their portal account in the same Notices listing,” said Stacy Combs, area technology officer for Business and Finance.
“Because WSU sends certain official communication only through the portal, it is very important that students can easily find their official notices,” Combs said. “Thus the split of Official Notices and myWSU Announcements will be helpful.”
The separate listing called myWSU Announcements, located further down on the Communications page, will deliver announcements for roles and interest groups to which individuals have subscribed. The roles currently include faculty, staff, graduate students and undergraduate students for each WSU campus.
Interest groups currently are major areas of the university, but student groups are being added this summer in response to requests from Registered Student Organizations or RSOs. More details will be available on this new service in late summer.
“These improvements in myWSU are in direct response to requests from our students, who are the portal’s major users,” Combs said.
WSU faculty, staff and students are encouraged to log in to their myWSU portal account and click the “Manage subscriptions” link to review and update their subscriptions to make sure they will receive the general announcements that they want.
