Lawyer to Talk about Experiences Defending Pharmaceutical Companies

PULLMAN, Wash. — A Washington State University pharmacy alumnus with experience defending pharmaceutical companies in high-profile cases will be lecturing to pharmacy students at noon April 12.

Joseph P. Thomas is now a lawyer with Ulmer & Berne Attorneys in Cincinnati, Ohio. His talk to students is titled “Science — From the Classroom to the Courtroom.” It is the first in a lecture series sponsored by the Bi-Mart Corporation and will be held in Wegner Hall G50 on the WSU campus in Pullman.

Thomas got his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from WSU in 1980, his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1982, and his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1988.

He has conducted his own clinical research and has published scientific papers and been involved in lawsuits related to fen/phen, PPA, ephedra, antidepressants and hormone-replacement therapy.
