Two Pullman Students Win Safety Competition

PULLMAN, Wash. – Rachel Dinsmoor, 11, and Ashley Reynolds, 12, from Lincoln Middle School won a local contest for designing a new safety slogan “Don’t be a knucklehead…Buckle up instead!”

Middle school students competed to design the slogan to help encourage safety among their peers. The winning slogan will be used for window clings which will be distributed around Pullman.

The unveiling of these window clings will be at Zeppoz Friday, Feb. 29 from 3-6 p.m. where the first 50 students, ages 11-14, will get free admission for bowling and the winners will receive their grand prizes from participating businesses such as Licks and the Pullman Aquatic Center.

The competition to encourage safety was created by five Washington State University Public Relations Student Society of America students, who are taking part in the Bateman National Case Study Competition. This year’s competition is part of the Chevrolet Safe Kids Buckle Up! Program.

The middle school student’s competition is part of their campaign to encourage safety among their community.
